The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) proudly took part in the 2025 Avalon Australian International Airshow, delivering hands-on support and vital information to veterans, serving ADF members, and their families.
Positioned within the Defence Community Marquee, DVA’s presence was both broad and impactful. Representatives from several key programs were on-site, including Defence Service Homes (DSH) Insurance, the Community Support Team (CST), the Veteran Support Office (VSO), the Veteran Employment Program (VEP), and Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling.
One of the highlights was the engagement from the DSH Insurance team, who provided attendees with insights into tailored home building insurance options available to veterans and current serving personnel. Their team explained the advantages of DSH coverage—highlighting its competitiveness, streamlined claims process, and the long-term value it offers to the Defence community.
Across the marquee, DVA staff worked to ensure that visitors had direct access to information on services ranging from mental health support and community outreach to career transition and veteran employment. Their approach was personal and practical offering more than just brochures, but real conversations that addressed individual needs and questions.
DVA’s participation at Avalon 2025 underscored its ongoing commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of the veteran community. By being present at events like Avalon, DVA strengthens connections, raises awareness, and reinforces the message that support is always available—for today’s service members and tomorrow’s veterans alike.
